Blake spent most of his childhood in Columbia and Spartanburg, SC, though his denominational pastor father’s ministries moved his family around every few years.
Always happier when he’s outdoors, Blake is an avid runner – he’s often spotted running around town or the trails – and loves hiking, camping and horseback riding.
Having grown up in the church, Blake felt God called him into ministry as a young teenager – though he ran from it for years. Ultimately, God used his best friend and worship pastor, one of his professors, and his father to convince him that answering His call was best for him, his family and his community, wherever that may be.
Before coming to Brazos Fellowship, Blake came from NewSpring Church in South Carolina, volunteering as a keyboardist, vocalist and music director.
Blake feels there is no greater cause than the local church and that’s what keeps him motivated. Seeing people go from death to life is the reason he serves the church rather than a touring band.
And for Blake, the choice to serve the church through his music is simple:
“I come across great music whenever I want but I can only come across miracles when I get out of God’s way and let Him use me how He wants.”
